RALEIGH, NC, February 17, 2010 - United Restaurant Equipment Company, a Raleigh-based business and one of the largest restaurant equipment dealers in North Carolina hosted Gov. Bev Perdue as she signed Executive Order No. 50 that will give NC-based businesses a price-matching opportunity when bidding on state contracts for the purchase of goods. The order by Governor Perdue will help local businesses compete with out-of-state companies who bid on projects in North Carolina, says Howard Margulies, President, United Restaurant Equipment Company.Under the old system, a local business could easily lose a $20,000 contract because their bid was $50 higher than a company from out-of-state. Now, we'll have a better chance to keep more business, and more tax money, in the state of North Carolina. Executive Order No. 50 directs the Secretary of Administration to develop price-matching procedures for North Carolina resident bidders on state contracts for the purchase of goods. Such a preference would provide a qualified North Carolina company whose bid price is within 5% or $10,000 of the lowest bid, whichever is less, an opportunity to match the price of an out-of-state low bidder and be awarded contracts with the State of North Carolina. # # # United Restaurant Equipment Company (URECO) is a family-owned business and a leader in the restaurant equipment and supply industry since 1952.
